The National Lutheran Choir is holding one of its regular weekly rehearsals at St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church in Plymouth (17205 County Road 6) on Tuesday, March 6, starting at 7:00 pm. Guests are invited to listen to rehearsal, take a cookie break with Choir members, and participate in a brief Q & A about the National Lutheran Choir. There is no cost for this event and guests will receive a voucher for an NLC concert in May.
The National Lutheran Choir, based in Minneapolis/St. Paul, is taking auditions for all voice parts for the 2012-2013 season.
Auditions are by appointment only during the hours listed below. (Other audition times may be available by special arrangement.) Call 612-722-2301 to inquire or to schedule an audition appointment.

The theology of the African American spirituals tradition resonates in many ways - as if to shout: "God, save us!" Woven together with spirituals set by Moses Hogan, Craig Carnahan, Paul Weber and Joseph Jennings, choral treasures such as Mendelssohn's Psalm 2 (Warum toben die Heiden, "Why do the nations so furiously rage together?") and a monumental multi-movement work of Jean Berger, "Vision of Peace" create a sense of deep human yearning. Also included will be music of Gretchaninoff, Urmas Sisak, Charles Marie Widor and David Cherwien.

The National Lutheran Choir, along with Northwestern College Choir, Magnum Chorum, The Singers - Minnesota Choral Artists, University of Minnesota Singers, University of Central Oklahoma Concert Chorale, Kantorei Chamber Choir, The Oratorio Society of Minnesota, and Concordia University - St. Paul Christus Chorus, will be participating in a Choral Music Concert featuring new choral works by CMS composers during the College Music Society's 53rd National Conference held in Minneapolis. This concert is free and open to the public.

As part of a series of free, “Open Rehearsals,” the 60-voice National Lutheran Choir will be holding one of its regular weekly rehearsals at a Twin Cities location near you. Please join us for an opportunity to experience the artistry and ministry of the National Lutheran Choir as they rehearse for upcoming concert performances.
Guests will observe rehearsal for 45-60 minutes, enjoy a dessert buffet, and have an opportunity to sign up for complimentary concert tickets. A representative from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will share some innovative ideas about how you can support the National Lutheran Choir and other charitable organizations you value (you will not be asked for money at this event).
