The National Lutheran Choir and Gothic Records are pleased to announce the release of Praise Parisienne, featuring French Romantic music with the National Lutheran Choir and Martin Jean, organist.

The album was recorded May 10-12, 2007 with the Casavant Organ (Opus 1177) at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Mahtomedi, Minnesota.

The choir thanks Martin Jean, Jan Gilbertson, Bill Chouinard, and the NLC Board of Directors for their support of this project.

Foundation

Released October, 2007

The first public sounds of the National Lutheran Choir were made not on the concert stage, but in a church sanctuary turned recording studio. On November 22, 1986 a congregation of friends and family assembled at House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Richfield, Minnesota to join voices with the nascent choir in the recording of some favorite old hymns. (The first official concert was in March of 1987.)

A Holy Solemnity

“The Twin Cities area (Minneapolis/St. Paul) has a long and rich sacred choral tradition, which allows a world class chorus such as the National Lutheran Choir to thrive. This mostly a cappella collection of Christmas works is sure to please all choral music fans with its artful selections and subtle performances.” - A-cappella.com

Only a Manger

While Angels Sing

“Several of the tracks are accompanied, such as “This Is The Christ,” but with pristine and restrained orchestrations, lovely indeed. In keeping with the CD’s seraphic motif, the choir’s tone color is one of brilliance and purity.” - Primarily A Cappella

“The music seems to get stronger and stronger as the album continues. What is more amazing is the choir’s ability to sing so many different styles of choral music so well. Different periods and vastly different composers are represented with similar results: virtual perfection. Favorites are “Tota Pulchra Es,” by French composer Francis Poulenc, “O Magnum Mysterium” by Thomas Luis de Victoria, and “In Dulci Jubilo,” by Samuel Scheit. Magnificent!” - A-cappella.com
